About Us

Hello!

And Welcome to Sunset Ranch - Riding Stable and Hobby Farm

Let us introduce ourselves. Our little place is private, secure, and offers a peaceful, country setting. It is surrounded by trees and wildlife, providing the perfect ambiance to calm your nerves after a hectic day by just sitting back and relaxing or by learning in an environment designed with peace and serenity in mind. We are on a quiet dirt road that may have a handful of cars pass by on any given day. There are virtually no man-made noises, other than conversation and instruction, to interrupt one's thoughts. Nature provides the perfect  background for a superbly great one-on-one riding lesson or a learning experience involving many of our furred and feathered friends!

Sunset Ranch is home to eight of our best friends...six full-sized horses - Pepper, Bear, Bucky, Kyndika, Karamel, and Kali - & two miniature horses - Bob and Bubbles. Friend and stall-mate to Bob is Jete - our goat who provides us with all-natural, rich, tasting milk for most of Spring through Fall. Sunset Ranch is also home to 23 chickens who provide excellent tick control, no pestered for us by those little biting buggers (small pun intended)!

Lessons are given in our 90' x 36' arena, pictured to the left. Shade is provided by the trees surrounding the arena, which is greatly welcomed in the heat of the summer. No baking sun beating down during summer lessons, is a nice luxury we all have come to appreciate.

For older children and adults, lessons are given on either Pepper or Bear. For young children, Bob and Bubbles are always willing to provide a helping hoof to the little ones.

Lessons are given by either Frank Caruso, who is experienced in reining horse and working cow horse, as well as general western equitation and trail riding, or by Danelle DeWitt who has over 30 years practical experience around horses as well as riding horses for English and western equitation and extensive trail riding.

For detailed information about us, please click here or on the Qualifications tab above.

All lessons are one-on-one training for one hour. Each day may provide a different training routine, so boredom does not set in...oh, yawn, nothing is worse than being bored, especially from a child's point of view! All lessons are individual, giving each child and adult ample time for explanation of task, meaning behind it, and then hands-on practical application so all questions about the exercise are answered and worked through until completely understood. There are no group lessons, please do not ask for accommodations with this. We believe one-on-one is the best learning method and will not compromise this high standard.
